This policy explains how The Green Anchor, LLC, doing business as Side Hustle Labs, uses cookies and similar technologies on https://sidehustlelabs.blog.
This policy reflects the plugins and payment processors active in production: WooCommerce, WooPayments, the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway, and WordPress core. It does not include cookies from a service that is not enabled on this site.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on a browser or device. Similar technologies can store or access information through local storage, pixels, and SDKs. This site does not currently use pixels or SDKs of that kind; see “What we do not use” below.
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the site to do what you are actively asking it to do, such as holding items in a cart, keeping you signed in, or protecting your payment. They come from WooCommerce, Stripe, WooPayments, and WordPress core. See the inventory table below for the specific cookie names.
Functional
These cookies make a return visit more convenient but are not strictly required for a page to load. They come from WordPress core: remembering display preferences for a logged-in account, and pre-filling your name, email, and website on a future comment if you chose to save that information. See the inventory table below for the specific cookie names.
Security and performance, without extra cookies
Wordfence (firewall and security monitoring) and LiteSpeed Cache (page caching and performance) run on the server. In the current configuration, neither sets an additional cookie in your browser beyond the ones listed in the inventory below.
What we do not use
This site does not currently run Google Analytics, Google tags, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, or any other analytics or advertising technology, and it does not use Plaid. It does not use a cookie-consent banner, because none of its cookies require one; see “Consent” below.
Affiliate links on this site, such as the Pawns.app link described in the Affiliate Disclosure, carry a referral code in the destination URL. That code is read by the third-party site you land on, not stored as a cookie on sidehustlelabs.blog. An ordinary outbound affiliate link does not load an advertising tracker on this site before or after a click.
If SHL adds analytics, advertising, or another non-essential technology in the future, this policy will be updated first, and a consent mechanism will be put in place before that technology loads wherever the law requires one.
Consent
None of the cookies on this site currently require opt-in consent under standard cookie-law exemptions, because each one is either strictly necessary to a service you have asked for (your cart, your login, fraud prevention on your payment) or a functional convenience tied to an action you took (saving comment details, an admin display preference). The UK ICO’s guidance is that sites should explain cookies and obtain active consent, except for technologies essential to provide a service the user has requested, which describes every cookie in use on this site today.[9]
Cookie inventory
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
woocommerce_cart_hash |
WooCommerce | Detects when your cart contents have changed, so the site knows to refresh cached cart data | Strictly necessary | Session (deleted when you close your browser) |
woocommerce_items_in_cart |
WooCommerce | Indicates whether your cart currently holds items | Strictly necessary | Session |
wp_woocommerce_session_* |
WooCommerce | Points to your cart and session record in the store’s database, so the store can find your cart on your next page view | Strictly necessary | 2 days by default; the store can adjust this setting |
__stripe_mid |
Stripe | Recognizes your device across a browsing session to help prevent fraudulent payments | Strictly necessary | 1 year |
__stripe_sid |
Stripe | Identifies a single checkout session to Stripe’s fraud-prevention system | Strictly necessary | 30 minutes |
wordpress_logged_in_* |
WordPress | Keeps you signed in, so pages like My Account and your order history recognize you | Strictly necessary | 2 days by default, or 14 days if you select “Remember Me” when you log in |
wp-settings-*, wp-settings-time-* |
WordPress | Remembers display preferences for your logged-in account | Functional | 1 year |
comment_author_*, comment_author_email_*, comment_author_url_* |
WordPress | If you leave a comment and choose to save your details, pre-fills your name, email, and website next time so you do not have to retype them | Functional | Just under 1 year, and reset each time you comment again |
WordPress also sets a temporary wordpress_test_cookie the moment you attempt to log in, only to check that your browser accepts cookies. It is not kept afterward.
Duration figures above reflect each provider’s own documented default behavior for the plugins and gateways active on this site.[22][23][24] WooCommerce and WordPress both allow a site to change some of these durations through configuration, for example WooCommerce’s session length or WordPress’s login duration; SHL is currently using each platform’s default.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser’s settings. Blocking a strictly necessary cookie, such as the WooCommerce cart or session cookie, will likely break the cart, checkout, or login on this site. Functional cookies can generally be blocked without affecting checkout, though you may need to re-enter comment details on a future visit.
Changes
We will update this policy when the site’s technologies or legal requirements change, including before we activate anything not described above.
